But for the moon and stars there is no light down here

Amos talks in riddles through our speech

The whistle blows and the rails they hum but I cannot see the train

Resolution dodges my reach

Counting down to zero hear the borttom falling out

Things are tied in knots everywhere I look

Desperate angry people with no choices left

A generation is living on the hook

Lonely as a dirty room in a one night stand hotel

All the wheels that moved me once lie still in disrepair

Voices in my sleep told me to run the other way

Until I'm standing in the clear

Time is marked by heartbeats in the spirit world

Standing out in front alone the hero takes the heat for you

Pointing to a line of footprints leading down a path

Beyond the gates of fear and leads you through

Anything could happen here

The makings of a miracle are hanging in the air

Secrets are unfolding while the millennium is closing in

Way out on this edge tonight of everything I know

Staring into space my history takes me by surprise

Thinking that I could outrun it but it ran me down

I just surrender to the risk and sacrifice

Paint myself into a corner 'til my back's against the wall

Running out the clock until I have no choice

Pleading for grace from the bottom of my heart

To the top of my voice
