When the moon lights a hole in the nighttime sky

And the silence is holding its own

Whisper a prayer in the candlelight

Deliver me safely back home

There are too many stars to count them all

Together they turn heaven blue

And the brightest star in my heaven tonight

Is the one that shines on you

In the stillness of evening my day is done

A song of the night faintly rings

Lay down to rest and sleep fills my head

Surrender my thoughts to my dreams

There are ones filled with trouble and the pure joy of flight

With sorrow and sweet mystery too

And the sweetest dream that I ever did dream

Is the one that shines on you

The rain needs only to fall and a candle just needs to burn

All we need is to give our hearts receiving one in return

When the sun comes to wake up the morning sky

And the world is still turning around

All our tomorrows are anyone’s guess

Be heroes or villains or clowns

We are turning each one of our pages

We are playing our parts ‘til we’re through

And by far the most perfect of any tomorrow

Is the one that shines on you
