It was all over in November

Still cleaning up the mess she left behind

Answer questions to the neighbors

You've got to live with these ideas and paint this dead end sign

Now you stand there telling me

You just want to cover up and hide

But I bet you could turn it all around

Bet you could turn around if you tried

If you get lucky

If you get lucky

You just might get a second chance to make it right

If you get lucky

If you get lucky enough

You might be waking from a trance in the clear moonlight

If you get lucky

It was easy do you remember

To give it all away and turn you head

Count your blessings on you fingers

Or you can count the days that she's been gone instead

You could have left here weeks ago

But you swore she'd left a clue behind

Looking everywhere but inside

It was impossible to find

Does this really have to take forever

Could you kindly just get to the point

I think that everything would be a whole lot better

We'd be better off by far if we could get out of this joint

Starting over in September

Embrace the highway like a long lost friend

Beat the horn and pound the fender

Was a time I thought the pain would never end

Changes coming hard and fast

Years rush by with a deafening roar

It took that long to see the only thing

That makes a difference anymore
