If I were you

I would raise my voice in anger in the middle of the night

If I were you

I would disregard the danger and give up without a fight

I would cast aside the world

From your precious glowing hand

I would say just what I please

And I would not give a damn

I would talk and talk about it until my face turned blue

I would probably be wrong if I were you

If I were you

I would never take a minute to get really serious

If I were you

I would step back from within it and I would not make a fuss

I would take nobody's word

For what is and isn't true

I would tell them just exactly

What they should and shouldn't do

I would make sure they were listening the last thing that I'd do

I would show them who's the boss if I were you

Check it out upon returning

What was true just isn't true

Suddenly you are learning the past is burning

Without warning

Without a clue

If I were you

I would wonder what went wrong and what had brought me to this place

If I were you

I would pray that I'd be strong and I would look them in the face

I would try to start again

I would swallow up my pride

I would listen to the voices

That whisper down inside

I would make some cold decisions before this night is through

I'd find someplace safe to hide if I were you
