I woke up this morning with you on my mind

Like I do most everyday

Sometimes I wish that it wasn't like this

Have another hand to play

Even if I could turn back the pages

Rewind the clock again

I can't promise I would do anything different

Than what I stood for then

Maybe it's convenient to stay all strung out on you

Makes it easier not to do what I need to do

Maybe I could live without all this stuff I put me through

Maybe I'm addicted to the blues

I lost track of all the times I swore you off for good

I can't even count the times I failed

Come up short of what it takes to be a hero in your eyes

Come up short of breaking through the spell

Still this dark cloud follows me through my days

And it keeps me from my home

Swallows up all the light

I would not wish it on anyone
